Sir Acorn’s Tiny Quest
ACT I
(A simple stage representing a garden or park area. A small tree prop and a low, soft obstacle like a painted log or mound are visible. SIR REGINALD ACORN, a squirrel puppet or actor dressed as a squirrel with a small cape, enters with determined steps.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
Hark! I am Sir Reginald, brave and quite grand!
A noble knight, with quest throughout the land!
My mission true, a treasure I must find,
The finest nut, for all of squirrel-kind!
A noble knight, with quest throughout the land!
My mission true, a treasure I must find,
The finest nut, for all of squirrel-kind!
(He looks left and right, scanning the area.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
Ah, yonder path! But wait! What sight appears?
A fearsome log! It fills my heart with cheers!
A challenge great, for knight of courage stout!
I’ll leap it bravely, putting fears to rout!

I’ll leap it bravely, putting fears to rout!
(Sir Reginald takes a little run-up and performs an enthusiastic, perhaps wobbly, hop over the low obstacle.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
Huzzah! The log is conquered, low and wide!
My knightly strength I simply cannot hide!
Now onward march, my treasure waits ahead,
Beneath the branches, where the leaves are spread!

Beneath the branches, where the leaves are spread!
(He scurries towards the tree prop and looks around its base.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
What wonders here? A glint of polished brown!
The treasure sought, the best in all the town!
A perfect acorn, round and plump and full!
A knight’s reward! A tasty, tiny pull!

(He carefully picks up a prop acorn.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
My quest is done, the victory is near!
Sir Reginald Acorn, banishing all fear!
This prize I’ve won, through courage and through speed…
(He pauses, looking at the acorn.)
Is just the thing a hungry knight does need!

(Sir Reginald mimes happily eating the acorn.)
SIR REGINALD ACORN
Ah, sweet success! The quest complete, you see!
Sir Reginald Acorn, happy as can be!

(He gives a little bow or wave and exits.)
